The holiday has ended I’m now back in the UK.
The air flight back was not uneventful.
Arrived in plenty of time at Orlando airport – as you do. Decided to travel the net but guess what in the few hours from the hotel to the airport I managed to crack my laptop screen. Great that might mean I have lost all my photos which I had down loaded from my camera Oh Woe – and what about the photographs I had downloaded for Sue Oh Double Woe.
But a good flight to New York.
I only had 43 min to change planes at New York so I asked the stewardess what advice she could give me to ensure I got the connection. After she stopped laughing she replied “Run” since the arrival gate and the departure gate was at opposite ends of the terminal. Didn’t look good but joy we landed early, but woe the plane’s gate was occupied (problem with a passage on another plane – I could be next one!). Finally the plane was allocated a new gate.
After leaving the plane I had 20 min to get to the next plane. With the sound of the stewardess in-between giggles wishing me luck and to have a nice day I sprinted (me sprint?) towards the appropriate gate. A bit of luck the gate had been changed – it was now further away! I kept sprinting making used of the moving pathways – made a mistake once stopped for a rest on one (this sprinting takes it out of you) only to notice after a few minutes that people not on the pathway were moving quicker than me – the moving pathway was not moving, it was stopped, it was stationary – but I was ready for the final sprint to the finishing line.
Arrived at the gate 2 minutes before departure only to be told the flight was closed. I didn’t argue, I didn’t speak, I was just about gulping up enough air to prevent me from collapsing. The lady in charge had sympathy for me and opens the gate to let me on the aircraft – but I really think it was passing the buck, it was easier to get the old panting, wheezing gentleman on the plane as opposed to dealing with a collapsed body in the middle of the airport.
The plane set off on time but then stood on the runway for 20 minutes waiting for a takeoff spot.
The plane landed on schedule at Heathrow – well it was the right day.
The one thing I had not taken account of at New York was that whilst I had managed to get the connecting flight showing my Olympic prowess my bags didn’t. They were not on the plane!
I went to the desk to inform them that my bags were missing. They checked on the computer and confirmed I was right they were not on the plane, but would be on the next flight. They checked further and the next plane had already landed – couldn’t believe it, perhaps I should have got the next plane too.
After 20 minutes I had my luggage.
I now had an uneventful bus trip back to South Wales – except of course the Toilet at the back of the bus, but that’s another story for another time!
So the blog of my trip to USA has ended, but should I carry on with
My next holiday photographs?
Any other nice photos I take?
Any amusing tales as time passes by?
Anything else?
If there is anybody out there?
If there is let me have your opinion and comments
Thanks in advance
